Course Details

UEENEEP010A - Disconnect-reconnect appliances connected to low voltage installation wiring (Appliances)

This unit covers disconnecting and reconnecting appliances connected to low voltage installation wiring. This may be incidental to or a primary and regular function of work related to a principle work function. It encompasses working safely, identifying supply arrangements, following isolation procedures, selecting and using testing and measuring devices, terminating and connecting cables and conductors, safely testing and reporting.

The skills and knowledge described in this unit requires a license to practice in the workplace where plant and equipment operate at voltage above 50 V a.c. or 120 V d.c. However other conditions may apply in some jurisdictions subject to regulations related to electrical work. Practice in the workplace and during training is also subject to regulations directly related to occupational health and safety and where applicable contracts of training such as apprenticeships.

Note:

Candidates are to meet regulator eligibility requirements by providing formal confirmation from the relevant state/territory regulator for the respective work class and scope of work prior to developing and being conferred competent.

+Entry Requirement
The participants must possess a sufficient grasp of the English language, and may be required to undertake an LLN test to assess whether their literacy and numeracy skills are sufficient to cope with the training program. The participant may also be required to hold the following:

  • A current white card;

+Delivery Mode
This unit is delivered by Blended Mode. This includes:

  • Unit Assessment and Learning (focused on underpinning knowledge and skills); and
  • Structured Workplace Learning (focused on extending and refining practical skills).

This is summarised below.

Students will study the unit through a combination of textbooks, face-to-face training and tutorials which includes unit readings and web links.

+Course Duration
The maximum duration of this unit is expected to be approximately 80 hours. It is calculated based on a recommended overall average minimum number of hours devoted to study each week which is 7 hours per week. The student will be required to study for 12 weeks in total.

This unit covers disconnecting and reconnecting motors connected to low voltage installation wiring. This may be incidental to or a primary and regular function of work related to a principle work function. UEENEEP026A - Conduct in-service safety testing of electrical cord connected equipment and cord assemblies (Test & Tag (Optional))

If you decide to take up the optional upgrade for a Test and Tag statement of attainment you will be accredited to Test and Tag.

The great thing is, you won’t have to do any additional modules or study as it will be included in the 3 day course. These elements and performance criteria required to meet the requirements set by AS/NZS 3760 the Australian standard on testing and tagging for Test and Tag will be covered.

Test and Tag is perfect for those who work in high-risk environments and need to test items the general public will come in contact with.

Note: Unlike many Test and Tag courses out there, this Test and Tag upgrade option is Nationally Accredited.
